Blinn College District opened registration Monday for its winter minimester and its spring 2027 semester, the same day Texas began a weeklong push to get residents to apply to college for free.
Students already enrolled at Blinn sign up through the myBLINN portal. New students start at blinn.edu/apply, where the college walks applicants through each step of enrolling. Blinn says its own admission application costs nothing at any time of year, not just this week.
Two short winter blocks
The winter minimester packs a course into a condensed schedule split around the holidays: Dec. 14-18, then Dec. 28 through Jan. 6. Blinn pitches it as a way to pick up a prerequisite or lighten a spring course load.
Spring 2027 classes are offered at Blinn's Bryan and RELLIS locations as well as Brenham, Schulenburg, Sealy and Waller, and online.
Fall 2027 applications open too
Three applications for next fall went live Monday:
- Admission for fall 2027.
- Endowed scholarships, where one form puts a student in the running for more than 350 awards, according to the college.
- Housing at the Brenham campus, the only Blinn campus with residence halls. That application carries a fee.
"This is an excellent time to take the next step," Becky McBride, Blinn's vice chancellor of student services, said in the college's announcement.
Blinn says its tuition and general fees come to 52% less than the average Texas public university, and that no Texas community college sends a larger share of its students on to universities.
