Tampa Bay's third quarter decides it
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter and beat the Dallas Cowboys 24-16 on Thursday, Oct. 8, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The win was Tampa Bay's first of the season and left the Buccaneers 1-4. Dallas fell to 2-3 before a crowd of 92,351.
How the scoring went
Dallas struck first on a 1-yard touchdown run by Javonte Williams, with Brandon Aubrey adding the extra point. Tampa Bay tied it early in the second quarter when rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels found Bucky Irving for a 5-yard touchdown, and Chase McLaughlin converted. Aubrey's 41-yard field goal with 21 seconds left in the half sent the Cowboys to the locker room ahead 10-7.
The Buccaneers took over after the break. Emeka Egbuka ran 14 yards for a touchdown, Irving added a 1-yard scoring run, and McLaughlin kicked a 41-yard field goal to make it 24-10 late in the third quarter.
Dallas answered in the fourth when Dak Prescott hit George Pickens for an 18-yard touchdown, but the two-point try failed and the Cowboys got no closer.
