Blinn College plans to begin construction in November on a $43 million sports complex at its Brenham campus, with the project expected to be finished in summer 2028, according to Sports Planning Guide.
The centerpiece is a fieldhouse of 28,555 square feet that will hold offices, locker rooms, training rooms and storage. Outside, plans call for a synthetic turf practice field for football, fields for soccer and softball competition, a field for intramurals and extra practice, an eight-lane track and parking for roughly 250 vehicles.
The project is intended to bring together teams that now train and compete in separate or older facilities, and the publication reports it is expected to help with athlete development, recruiting and retention.
Blinn teams have collected over 50 national titles since 1986. Notable former Blinn athletes include Olympic silver medalist James Beckford, Cam Newton of the NFL, Chris "Birdman" Anderson, who won an NBA title, and Don Baylor, who won a World Series.
