Kansas State falls to Houston 35-16 after four Overmyer TD catches

Kansas State trailed 21-3 at halftime and could not overcome four touchdown catches by Houston's Patrick Overmyer in a 35-16 home loss Saturday.

Kansas State fell behind early and could not recover, losing 35-16 to visiting Houston on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Houston receiver Patrick Overmyer caught four touchdown passes from Conner Weigman, while the Cougars built a 21-3 halftime lead and improved to 5-1. Kansas State is 3-2.

Houston builds an early lead

Overmyer opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown catch from Weigman in the first period, followed by Jonathan Dimas' kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez's 29-yard field goal, leaving Houston ahead 7-3 after one quarter.

The Cougars pulled away in the second. Overmyer caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Weigman, and Makhi Hughes added a 13-yard touchdown run. Dimas made both extra points, giving Houston a 21-3 advantage at halftime. Kansas State was held scoreless in the second period.

Wildcats make a third-quarter push

Houston extended its lead when Overmyer caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Weigman in the third period. Kansas State responded with Garrett Oakley's 13-yard touchdown reception from Avery Johnson, but the two-point pass conversion failed, making the score 28-9.

Overmyer then caught his fourth touchdown pass of the game, a 2-yard connection from Weigman. Dimas' kick put Houston ahead 35-9 entering the fourth quarter.

Final numbers

Kansas State added the final points when Jaron Tibbs caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Johnson, and Rodriguez made the kick for the 35-16 final.

Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns. Overmyer had eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns. Re'Shaun Sanford II carried 20 times for 90 yards, while Hughes scored on his 13-yard run.

Johnson was 16 of 30 for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Rodney Fields Jr. led Kansas State's rushing statistics with 14 carries for 46 yards. Oakley finished with three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown. Attendance at Bill Snyder Family Stadium was 51,569.
