College Station beat Killeen 57-38 on senior night Friday at Cougar Stadium, handing the Kangaroos their first District 12-5A Division I loss of the season.

The Cougars moved to 6-1 overall and 4-1 in district play. Killeen dropped to 4-2 and 3-1.

College Station scored on its first possession when its quarterback kept the ball for a rushing touchdown. A blocked punt gave the Cougars the ball back, and a touchdown pass made it 14-0.

Killeen pulled within 14-8 in the second quarter. With about six minutes left in the half, College Station answered with a rushing touchdown and a two-point conversion for a 22-8 lead. The Kangaroos returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown to make it 22-15.

The Cougars then broke the game open. A 63-yard touchdown reception started a run of three straight scores, and College Station took a 43-15 lead into halftime. Killeen pushed back in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars held on.

With the win, College Station and A&M Consolidated share first place in the district at 4-1.

Both teams play again Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. College Station visits Hendrickson, and Killeen is at home against Shoemaker.
