College Station residents 55 and older can buy a $27 annual pass for senior programming at three city recreation centers, while free seasonal events offer another way to join in.

The city put those options in the spotlight in its Oct. 9 episode of “What’s Up, College Station?” Senior Services Coordinator Kari Williamson discussed fitness classes, Mahjong, Bunco and the upcoming Senior Autumn Fest. The discussion highlights the city’s existing programs.

The resident pass works at Meyer Senior and Community Center, Southwood Community Center and Lincoln Recreation Center. It is valid for a year from purchase. The city also lists a $3 daily resident pass, giving residents a shorter-term option.

A pass does not mean every activity has the same admission rules. The monthly calendar distinguishes programs requiring senior membership, classes with a separate fee and free activities for adults 55 and older. Check the listing for the activity you want before heading out.

One free date to mark is Thursday, Oct. 22: Senior Autumn Fest runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lincoln Recreation Center. The city’s October event announcement lists food, live music, dancing, a cakewalk and door prizes, and invites participants to wear Halloween costumes. Times are Central Daylight Time.

Passes can be purchased online, at a participating facility or by calling 979-764-2670. The Senior Adult Programs page links to the monthly calendar and purchase options.
