Spurs trail early

The San Antonio Spurs’ fourth-quarter push was not enough Saturday, as the Phoenix Suns held on for a 102-98 victory at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. Luke Kennard led the Suns with 20 points.

Phoenix, the home team, built a 35-25 advantage through the opening quarter. San Antonio responded in the second, outscoring the Suns 26-23, but Phoenix carried a 58-51 lead into halftime.

Phoenix rebuilds its lead

The Suns added to the margin in the third quarter, taking the period 27-22. That left Phoenix ahead 85-73 entering the final quarter.

San Antonio made its strongest push at the end. The Spurs scored 25 points in the fourth while limiting the Suns to 17, but the deficit remained too large to overcome. Phoenix finished with the four-point win.

Leaders and records

Kennard’s 20 points paced Phoenix. Jalen Green contributed five assists, and Khaman Maluach had 15 rebounds for the Suns.

Dylan Harper led San Antonio with 15 points. Victor Wembanyama had six assists, while Luke Kornet collected 10 rebounds.

The game was played Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, with an announced attendance of 17,071. Phoenix improved to 1-2, while San Antonio fell to 0-2.
