Baylor has extended a scholarship offer to Bear Acy, the No. 7 overall prospect in the 2029 class. The 6-foot-7 basketball player has not announced a decision, and the offer is not described as his only recruiting opportunity. Additional offers are expected for the highly ranked prospect.
Acy is the son of Quincy Acy, who played forward for the Bears from 2008 to 2012. Quincy Acy earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team for the 2011-12 season and was recognized for scoring, rebounding and blocking shots near the basket.
The younger Acy is described as having the size to affect both ends of the court. His abilities include rim protection, passing-lane disruption, blocked shots and deflections. A commitment could allow Baylor coach Scott Drew to lead a second Acy generation.
Drew coached Quincy Acy throughout his four seasons at Baylor. Drew had taken over as the program’s head coach in 2003, following earlier work as an assistant to his father, Hall of Fame coach Homer Drew, at Valparaiso. It remains unclear whether Baylor’s relationship with Quincy Acy will affect Bear Acy’s decision.
