Jared Nuness, a former assistant men's basketball coach at Baylor University, has been sanctioned by the NCAA after admitting to placing around 3,400 bets totaling approximately $38,000 on various sports. This action follows an investigation initiated by a third-party monitoring system that identified Nuness in November 2025.
Baylor conducted an internal inquiry and reported its findings to the NCAA in December 2025, which led to a collaborative investigation. In February 2026, Nuness confessed to the NCAA that he breached its regulations by wagering on professional sports via two online platforms.
He also allowed his underage son to use these betting accounts, resulting in three bets on NCAA Division I men's basketball games worth $170.
The NCAA confirmed that Nuness's wagers did not involve Baylor University or its athletes. He took full accountability for his actions, and he and NCAA enforcement officials concurred on classifying the incident as a Level II-Standard violation.
Baylor Athletics issued a statement affirming its cooperation with the NCAA during the investigation. Spokesman Brent Ingram mentioned that compliance education is ongoing within the athletic department, including collaboration with ProhiBet.
