North Texas has confirmed that Tayven Jackson will be the starting quarterback for their upcoming game against Indiana University, ranked No. 6. This match, taking place at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana, marks IU's first regular season game on September 5.

Jackson, a Greenwood, Indiana native, has a notable football history, having played at Center Grove High School before attending multiple colleges. He was part of the Tennessee football program in 2022 and spent two seasons at IU from 2023 to 2024.

He later transferred to the University of Central Florida (UCF) for the 2025 season, where he recorded a total of 2,151 passing yards, achieving 10 touchdown passes and 8 interceptions during his time there.

In addition to his football ties to IU, Jackson is also related to former IU basketball player Trayce Jackson-Davis, who has expressed his intention to attend the game in support of his brother. This game will be IU's first since they celebrated their national championship victory in January.
