The University of Houston's offensive guard Shadre Hurst has been honored as a member of the Preseason AP All-American First-Team. This announcement was made on Tuesday, emphasizing Hurst's outstanding contributions and performance on the field.
Earlier this month, he was also recognized on the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists. Hurst has a notable connection with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi from their previous time at Tulane, where he earned All-American status and received All-AAC honors in The American Conference.
Since 2023, Hurst has maintained an impressive 80.0 pass block grade, ranking second among active FBS offensive linemen. He has only allowed one sack throughout over 1,200 passing snaps, demonstrating his effectiveness and reliability.
In 2025, he was named the highest graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and ranked sixth nationally among guards by Pro Football Focus. During his time at Tulane, Hurst played a significant role in securing three conference titles from 2022 to 2025, allowing just one sack over four seasons.
