Caden Powell, a native of Waco and former player at Baylor, is set to rejoin the team for the 2026-27 season following a recent court injunction in Ohio. After playing for Wyoming and Rice, Powell joined Baylor last season, where he initially was expected to be a backup center but ended up starting due to injuries within the team.

This season's Baylor roster will look different, as head coach Scott Drew aims to create a deeper lineup that can withstand the rigors of a full season and compete effectively through March. Powell's unexpected return adds significant depth to the team.

While it is unlikely that Powell will immediately take on a starting role, he is anticipated to be an important contributor off the bench. His defensive skills and ability to act as a lob threat are expected to enhance the Bears' performance.

The projected depth chart for Baylor includes guards Kayden Mingo and Dylan Mingo as starters, with a rotation featuring Isaac Williams IV and Brett Decker Jr. In the wings and forwards category, Isaac Celiscar and Evan Chatman are slated to start. The center position will see Juslin Bodo Bodo starting, with Powell in the rotation.

Powell's experience will be vital for a relatively young team, where previously only Evan Chatman and Juslin Bodo Bodo were seniors.
