The Houston Texans are adjusting their strategy ahead of the 2026 NFL season following the loss of wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who has been put on injured reserve after suffering a torn ACL.
Higgins was anticipated to be a key player as the team's No. 2 receiver, and his absence has led the Texans to consider additional support at the position, particularly as other receivers, Jaylin Noel and Tank Dell, are also facing injuries.
In light of these challenges, the Texans are reportedly evaluating options in free agency, with a focus on veteran wide receivers Josh Reynolds and Zay Jones. Reynolds, who previously played for the Detroit Lions, had a season in which he made 40 receptions totaling 608 yards and scored five touchdowns.
Zay Jones, formerly with the Jacksonville Jaguars, had a standout year in 2022, achieving 82 catches for 823 yards and five touchdowns.
Despite both Reynolds and Jones encountering difficulties in recent seasons, the Texans view them as potential assets to strengthen their receiving lineup. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the team is conducting workouts for free agents, keeping both Reynolds and Jones in consideration as they navigate their current roster issues.
