Texas surrendered the final 10 points Saturday as Oklahoma defeated the Longhorns 27-24 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Tate Sandell’s 47-yard field goal gave the Sooners the final lead with the last scoring play of the game.

The field goal followed a fourth quarter in which Oklahoma erased a 24-17 deficit. Lloyd Avant’s 2-yard run made it 17-17, and Peyton Bowen’s 42-yard interception return put the Sooners ahead 24-17. Texas answered with Jermaine Bishop Jr.’s 15-yard touchdown reception from Arch Manning, followed by Gianni Spetic’s kick, to tie the game at 24.

The Longhorns regained the lead when Manning found Ryan Wingo for a 34-yard touchdown. Spetic’s kick made it 14-7, and his 23-yard field goal extended Texas’ advantage to 17-7 before halftime.

Sandell’s 53-yard field goal was Oklahoma’s only third-quarter score, cutting the margin to 17-10. The Sooners then scored 17 points in the fourth quarter, while Texas scored seven.
