Teens in the Brazos Valley who are thinking about jobs after high school can get free coaching on Monday, Nov. 2, at a new event from the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley.
The nonprofit's Future Focus program is open to anyone ages 13 to 18, the club says on its website. It runs 2-5 p.m. at the club's Newman-Adam campus, 1910 Beck St. in Bryan, according to the event's RSVP form.
What teens will do
Local professionals, small-business owners and community partners will talk about their jobs and how they got them, KBTX reported. Participants will move between stations: a résumé workshop, short practice interviews, and a session on interview clothing and preparation. Guest speakers plan to share their own career stories, and there will be time for one-on-one questions.
Michaela McDonald of the Boys & Girls Club told KBTX that many teens want to succeed but are unsure of the steps, and that practicing interviews in a low-pressure setting can build confidence.
