A local nonprofit, Bryan-College Station Sister Cities, is recruiting 10 host families for a youth exchange with Torun, Poland, one of the group's four sister cities, KBTX reported.

The families it is looking for have a high school student at home who wants to take part. Under the arrangement described by the organization, a family hosts a visiting student from Torun, and in late May the local family can travel to Poland to stay with that same student's family.

Participants pay for round-trip airfare and incidentals, and the group said scholarships are available for students who need help with costs.

How to apply

Applying costs nothing. The application form is posted on the Sister Cities website, bcssistercities.org, and students must also include teacher recommendations and an essay on why they want to host and then travel to Poland. Applications are due by midnight Dec. 15, 2026.

According to the organization's website, exchanges are a yearlong commitment for families, applicants are interviewed, and Bryan and College Station residents are eligible, with the aim of drawing about half of the participants from each city.

About the group

The Bryan-College Station Sister Cities Association was formed in 1989 and is affiliated with Sister Cities International as well as the statewide Texas association, according to its website. Besides Torun, its current sister cities are Salamanca, Mexico; Bastogne, Belgium; and Greifswald, Germany. Questions can be sent to bcssistercities@gmail.com.
