Sixteen new abstract oil paintings by Texas A&M University faculty member Dmitri Koustov go on view this week at the Arts Center of Brazos Valley in College Station.
The solo exhibition, titled "Points of View," opens with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, and remains on display through Dec. 19, according to the university's College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts.
Koustov is an instructional associate professor in the college's Visualization program. His practice spans painting, modern sculpture and site-specific installations, though he has said oil painting and sculpture are where he has spent most of his effort.
The canvases in this show are abstract works built around color, shape, texture and space. Among them are "Infinite Look," which measures 75 by 55 inches, "Tangerines" at 55 by 55 inches, and "Jewelry Box" at 43 by 43 inches, all dated 2026.
"My continuing interest in abstract art lies in its ability to inspire our curiosity and imagination," Koustov said in the college's announcement. He added that he hopes visitors will "enjoy creating their own connections and stories with the paintings."
It is not his first show at the venue. In 2018, Koustov's exhibit "Textured Fictions" opened at the same Highway 6 location, then operated by the Arts Council of Brazos Valley.
