Texas A&M’s State Fair of Texas livestock judging championship came with a shared starting point: every member of the winning senior-college team was a Blinn College alumnus, according to Blinn’s Oct. 9 results announcement.

The result gives College Station a direct connection to a strong week for Blinn’s agricultural program. Blinn’s own freshman squad finished as reserve champion at the Dallas contest, and its sophomore squad placed third among community colleges.

The distinction matters: the freshman team’s championship was at the separate Flint Hills Mid-America Classic in Hutchinson, Kansas. At the State Fair, it led the reasons category and finished second in sheep and goats, with third-place results in cattle and swine.

Blinn’s sophomores topped the reasons and sheep-and-goats categories at the State Fair.

The college offers agriculture courses across its campuses, with the program headquartered at its Brenham agricultural complex. Its agriculture and agricultural-business associate degrees are designed for students transferring into bachelor’s programs, a pathway reflected in the Aggies’ all-alumni lineup.
