The second-half numbers favored Texas A&M. The scoreboard never quite caught up.

The Aggies outshot Mississippi State 12–2 after halftime Friday, Oct. 9, but lost 2–1 at MSU Soccer Complex in Starkville, Mississippi. A two-goal first-half deficit proved too much to erase.

A&M scored in the 54th minute and nearly found an equalizer six minutes later, when a header struck the inside of the post and the goal line before being cleared. The Aggies finished with a 15–11 advantage in shots and a 7–6 edge in corner kicks.

Those totals explain why the result will sting: A&M produced pressure and opportunities without collecting the point it needed. The loss left the Aggies 4–9 overall and 0–6 in SEC play. Six of their defeats have been by one goal.

College Station fans next get a home opportunity Thursday, Oct. 15. The Aggies are scheduled to face No. 11 South Carolina at Ellis Field at 7 p.m. Central.
