Texas A&M University highlighted professor emerita Robin R. Murphy’s selection to the 2026 Forbes 50 Over 50: Impact list in an Oct. 7 announcement.

Murphy, a retired faculty member in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, helped establish disaster robotics. Through the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue, which she co-founded, she has helped deploy robots at more than 30 disasters, including the Sept. 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina and Fukushima.

She now leads disaster research at a National Science Foundation artificial intelligence institute, using disaster imagery to help emergency agencies assess storm damage.

Forbes released the annual list in August. Produced with Mika Brzezinski’s Know Your Value initiative, it recognizes 200 women across four categories.

Murphy retired from Texas A&M in May 2025 and continues research and field work.
