Families looking for an early start on Halloween have two options on Sunday, Oct. 25, one among the storefronts of Historic Downtown Bryan and one in the main hall of a military museum in College Station.

Trick-or-Treat Street, 3 to 6 p.m.

The event once known as Halloweentown is back under a new name. Trick-or-Treat Street runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Historic Downtown Bryan and is free, KBTX reported in a segment sponsored by Destination Bryan, which organizes the afternoon with Bryan Broadcasting.

Downtown businesses and nonprofit groups will set up decorated booths that double as candy stops. Children can enter a costume contest in age groups of 0 to 3, 4 to 6, 7 to 9 and 10 to 12, and there are also family and pet categories.

A dance floor for kids and photo booth areas round out the program, and costumes are welcome at any age.

Shops along the route will stay open. Separately, downtown businesses are competing in a storefront decorating contest, with Halloween window displays up through Oct. 31.

Several downtown streets will close for the event. Drivers can park free in marked street spaces beyond the closures or pay to use the Roy Kelly Parking Garage at 200 East 27th Street.

Tank or Treat, 1 to 3 p.m.

Earlier the same day, the Museum of the American G.I. in College Station holds its Tank or Treat event from 1 to 3 p.m., according to KBTX.

Game and craft stations will be spread around the museum, including an "eyeball surprise" science activity and a station where children turn lollipops into ghosts to take home. Some activities come with prizes, and staff and volunteers are encouraged to wear costumes too.

Admission is free for costumed children age 12 and younger. The museum's main hall has been rearranged so visitors can pose for photos with the tanks, and the rest of the museum stays open during the event.

One more on Oct. 31

A week later, on Saturday, Oct. 31, Blackwater Draw in downtown Bryan hosts 12 straight hours of live music across three stages, free and open to every age, KBTX reported. Every act on the bill is local. Vendors, face paint, photos and a costume contest are also planned.

The organizer is Tilted Fuzz, a local band that also put on May's North by North Main Music Festival.
