College Station Animal Control is asking the public to help it find a dog involved in a bite at the dog park in Steeplechase Park earlier this week.

According to College Station police, the bite happened at about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the dog park in Steeplechase Park, which the city lists at 301 Westridge Drive.

The dog officers want to locate is a black Lab mix, medium to large in size. Police said it was with a young woman, described as Hispanic and college-aged, who also had a dachshund with her at the park.

Animal Control said the goal is to contact the owner so officers can "rule out potential rabies exposure." When an animal involved in a bite can be found and its health checked, the person or animal that was bitten may be able to avoid precautionary rabies treatment. Police have not released details about who was bitten.

The owner is not accused of any crime in the information released so far. Anyone who recognizes the dog or its owner, or who was at the park Tuesday evening and saw what happened, is asked to call College Station police at 979-764-3600.
