Monday, Oct. 5, is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 general election in Texas, and Brazos County election officials have posted the full early voting schedule for the weeks that follow.
Texas requires an application to be submitted 30 days before an election, according to the Brazos County Elections Administration. Residents can check whether they are registered, or update an address, through the state's VoteTexas.gov site, searching by driver's license number, voter ID number or name.
Check for a suspense notice
More than 1 million Texans were on voter "suspense" lists as of March, KUT reported last month. A voter lands on the list when mail sent by the registrar comes back undeliverable or the office learns of an address change.
Being on the list does not cancel a registration, but those voters may have to fill out a statement of residence at the polls, or cast a limited ballot if they moved from another county. KUT reported that voters can update their registration through VoteTexas.gov before the Oct. 5 deadline.
