Voters weighing their choices for the Nov. 3 election will get two evenings to hear from local candidates at a forum organized by the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce.

Both sessions are at the Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest Drive in Bryan, and start at 6 p.m. The first is Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the second is Monday, Oct. 19, according to the chamber's online event calendar. The calendar lists each evening as ending at 8 p.m., while chamber President and CEO Glenn Brewer told KBTX the sessions would run until 8:30 p.m.

What is on each night

Brewer told KBTX the forum will take up 10 local races in all. The Oct. 13 lineup covers the two Texas House contests on the area ballot, the Brazos County commissioner contest and the mayor's races in Bryan and College Station, he said. The Oct. 19 session is set aside for five city council contests.

College Station's ballot

College Station voters will elect a mayor and fill City Council Places 1 and 2, along with the rest of the term in Place 5 through a special election, according to the city's election page. The city lists these candidates:

  • Mayor: Bob Yancy and Elizabeth Cunha
  • Place 1: Mark Smith, Howard Mayne and Roy May
  • Place 2: Chandler Arden and Michael Kidd
  • Place 5 (unexpired term): Tre Watson, Padon Holt and Valen Cepak

The city's page links to each candidate's filing paperwork and campaign finance reports. Voting on Nov. 3 will take place at 25 polling locations, the city said.

Chamber banquet

The chamber has also scheduled its annual banquet at the Hilton College Station on Nov. 9, running 6 to 9 p.m. Brewer said Gen. Joe Ramirez will receive the Citizen of the Year award and Paige Nauman will be named Volunteer of the Year, with the Ambassador of the Year to be revealed that night. Banquet tickets are sold through BCSchamber.org.
