College Station’s first annual Restaurant Week concluded Tuesday with total sales reaching $58,595. Local officials confirmed that 10 percent of those funds were directed to hunger relief efforts.
Visit College Station reported that the event, which ran from August 24 through August 30, raised $5,859.50 for the Brazos Valley Food Bank. The weeklong initiative featured participating restaurants offering fixed-price, multi-course menus. Lunch options were priced at $25, while dinner selections ranged from $45 to $65.
Eight establishments took part in the inaugural showcase: Brazos Proper Texas Kitchen, Casa do Brasil, Casa Mangiare, De Baca Steakhouse, Juanita’s Tex-Mex Cantina, Office of the Dean, Porter’s Dining + Bar, and Red’s Icehouse.
Theresa Mangapora, executive director of the Brazos Valley Food Bank, described the partnership as a significant community achievement. She noted that every meal purchased at a participating venue provided an opportunity to assist neighbors facing food insecurity. Mangapora expressed gratitude toward Visit College Station, the restaurant owners, and diners for their support.
Angie Bertinot, marketing manager for Visit College Station, stated that the event successfully brought local restaurants together for a common cause. She highlighted the community turnout as evidence of the impact the organizers hoped to achieve. Bertinot indicated that the organization plans to build upon this success in future years.
