College Station High School defeated A&M Consolidated 45-27 during the ninth meeting between the two local rivals. The result marks the first time in two years that the Cougars have won this specific rivalry matchup.
College Station established an early lead, holding a 3-0 advantage entering the second quarter. Noah Symank added points to make it 10-0 before the Cougars recovered an onside kick. Symank then connected with Kash Adams for a touchdown, extending the score to 17-0.
A&M Consolidated began scoring with seven minutes remaining in the first half when quarterback Holt Goodwin threw to Chunky Mooring. On the subsequent drive, the ball was stripped from Symank and recovered by Lucas Hightower. Mooring scored on that possession, though a blocked extra point left Consol trailing 17-13.
Two minutes before halftime, Symank found Adams again for a 65-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 24-13. Goodwin threw a pass to Mari Moore in the end zone before the break, making the score 24-20 at halftime.
The Cougars defense dominated the third quarter by recording three consecutive fumble recoveries, each of which resulted in a touchdown. These defensive stops secured the final 45-27 outcome.
