Texas A&M welcomed highly rated prospect Sakura Cooper to College Station on Saturday night as the university hosted its season-opener. The visit coincided with the football team’s first game of the campaign, providing the Aggies an opportunity to showcase their program in person.
Cooper, a four-star wide receiver from Panther Creek High School in Dallas, is ranked as the No. 2 player at his position nationally. He is scheduled to graduate in 2029 and currently holds a commitment to SMU. Despite that existing pledge, his presence in College Station signals continued interest in the Aggies’ program.
Following the game, Cooper spoke with AggieYell regarding the purpose of his trip and the current standing of his recruitment. He addressed whether his visit might impact his status as an SMU commit and outlined the next steps in his evaluation process.
The prospect indicated that additional campus tours remain on his schedule. These upcoming visits will allow him to compare options before making a final decision on where to play college football.
