Texas A&M University is launching its 150th anniversary observance with a new merchandise collection and a schedule of public events beginning Oct. 2. The celebration will include campus programs, performances, concerts and a drone show.

The university’s officially licensed merchandise is being sold online as the 150th Collection, also identified as the 1876 Collection. Items include clothing intended for gamedays as well as commemorative keepsakes tied to the university’s history.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jack K. Williams Administration Building. The program will feature a formal proclamation, comments from university leaders and student performances focused on Aggie traditions and history. A public reception will follow.

Later that day, a “Fightin’ Texas Aggie” yell practice will take place at 9 p.m. at Kyle Field. A drone show will follow the practice as part of the anniversary launch, and the event is open to the public.

Spirit of 150 Week is planned for Oct. 4 through Oct. 10 at locations across campus.

Activities will include birthday cake and ice cream, speakers, concerts and the debut of a historical gallery exhibit. “Here for Good: Celebrating 150 Years of Texas A&M University” opens Oct. 2 at the J. Wayne Stark Galleries in the Memorial Student Center and is scheduled to remain available through May 16.
