Unreined Whiskey has established its operations in College Station, Texas, focusing on the aging and blending of bourbon rather than distillation. The company was founded in 2025 by a group of Texas A&M University alumni who share an interest in quality spirits. Their facility is located within the 600-acre WildHorse Ranch, a working cattle ranch in east-central Texas where bison also roam.
The venture began when ranch owner Jay Graham sought to create a local bourbon operation. His research led him to Nelson Ingram, a brand manager and tasting panel member at Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky. Ingram moved back to Texas in 2023, and the two formed a partnership. Graham serves as CEO, while Ingram acts as co-founder and blender.
The partners were supported by investors, including fellow Aggies and bourbon enthusiasts. They assembled a team that includes Evan Brewer as director of operations and head distiller, who previously worked at TX Whiskey in Fort Worth. Halle Trefzger joined as director of sales after working with the Kōloa Rum Company in Hawaii.
Unlike traditional producers, Unreined takes straight bourbon whiskeys distilled in Kentucky and Texas and ages them in College Station. The company built a custom rickhouse and bottling plant within a recently opened 30,000-square-foot visitor center at the ranch. The facility was constructed by Buzick Construction of Bardstown, Kentucky, and designed by Joseph & Joseph of Louisville, Kentucky.
It also features artwork by Houston painter Jesse de Leon.
