The City of College Station invites residents to the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Fire Station No. 7 on Friday. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at 2981 Greens Prairie Road.
Station tours will begin at 10 a.m., with the formal ceremony scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Mayor John Nichols, Fire Chief Richard Mann, and City Manager Bryan Woods are listed as speakers for the occasion.
The new facility was approved by voters in the 2022 bond election with an $18 million budget. The 18,200-square-foot station is designed to house 24 firefighters. The building features four drive-thru bays, 12 dorm rooms, and three officer quarters. Additional amenities include a full kitchen and dining area, fitness and training rooms, and a community use room.
Parking areas will be designated along Greens Prairie Road for attendees. The city encourages residents to carpool if possible to help manage traffic and parking availability during the event.
