Texas A&M University will hold its Silver Taps ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to honor the memory of Austin Ryan Stallman. The event is one of the university’s oldest traditions and serves as a final tribute for students who have died during the academic year.

Stallman was a major in Architecture: Global Arts, Planning, Design and Construction within the University Studies program. He is from Angleton, Texas.

The ceremony will take place at the Academic Plaza. The campus will be darkened at 10:20 p.m., at which point students, family, and friends will gather in silence in front of the Academic Building. At 10:30 p.m., an honor guard from the Ross Volunteer Company will march to the plaza and fire three rifle volleys.

Silver Taps is held on the first Tuesday of each month from September through April, following a student’s death. It applies to current professional, graduate, or undergraduate students.

To maintain tranquility during the event, residents living on campus are asked to cover windows, keep noise to a minimum, and walk to and from the ceremony without talking.

Those wishing to send condolences to Stallman’s family may email silvertaps@tamutraditions.net. Letters may also be dropped in one of four memorial boxes located in Academic Plaza, the Memorial Student Center 12th Man Hall, on the Quad, or in front of the West Campus Dining Facility.

The announcement was issued by the Texas A&M University Division of Student Affairs on Oct. 30, 2026.
