College Station has scheduled an Oct. 15 Planning & Zoning Commission hearing on a request to rezone about 1,266 acres between the Pebble Creek and Southern Pointe subdivisions.

The land lies east of State Highway 6 near Nantucket Drive. The request would replace rural and commercial-industrial zoning with planned-development and planned mixed-use districts. It is a proposal awaiting review.

A related comprehensive-plan amendment would change planned transportation routes, including realigning four thoroughfares, reclassifying two and removing a future grade-separated bicycle and pedestrian crossing. The city’s comparison maps also show proposed changes to sidewalks, bicycle facilities and shared-use paths.

The city lists the commission meeting for 6 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 1101 Texas Ave. People wishing to address an agenda item must register with the secretary at least two hours before the meeting, using the city’s comment form or calling 979-764-3570.

The city says agenda packets will be available 72 hours before the hearing. Residents can review the notice and linked maps on its public-meetings page and check the agenda for any schedule changes.
