Baylor and Colorado will enter their Big 12 opener with 2-1 records, but 11 players will be unavailable between the teams. Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is set to return at McLane Stadium after missing the Sept. 5 game with an ankle injury. The team's medical staff approved his return, following a forecast earlier in the week from coach Dave Aranda.
Nate Bennett will return to the backup role after starting two games. He completed 75% of his passes for 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions in those starts, while adding 15 rushing yards and two scores. Baylor also has wide receiver Jadon Porter, defensive back Devin Turner and defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler available.
Porter and Turner had been probable, and Wheeler was upgraded from questionable. Baylor's unavailable players are safety Jacob Redding, cornerback Jamarion Richardson, defensive lineman Devonte Tezino, offensive lineman Cayden Tone and wide receiver Ashton Jones.
Colorado has ruled out wide receiver Danny Scudero, cornerback Preston Ashley, linebacker Colby Johnson, defensive lineman Vili Taufatofua, offensive lineman Demetrius Hunter and tight end Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have combined for 94 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season. Offensive lineman Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision.
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. Central and will air on ESPN2, with Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison scheduled to call it.
