Baylor has lost two starters for the season, with defensive lineman Devonte Tezino joining safety Jacob Redding on the injury list. Head coach Dave Aranda confirmed after Saturday’s game against Prairie View A&M that Tezino will not return this season.

Tezino was hurt during Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage, when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman used a cut block. He called for medical personnel and was later taken from the field by cart. SicEm365 reported the injury and Aranda’s comments.

The fifth-year senior from Killeen had two sacks to open the season and tipped a pass that became an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career. Tezino appeared in all 12 games last fall, starting seven, despite dealing with injuries.

He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup that season. Across 29 games at Baylor, he has 56 tackles. Baylor has depth along its defensive line.
