Dallas Cowboys safety P.J. Locke suffered a foot injury during Washington’s opening possession, adding to the team’s defensive absences in its home opener against the Commanders. It was Locke’s second game with Dallas after he signed a one-year contract worth $4 million during the offseason.
A replay on FOX showed Locke moving toward a tackle and then appearing to limp before making contact with another player. Training staff assisted him off the field, and reports cited by Sports Illustrated said he later reached the locker room under his own power.
Malik Hooker was already unavailable because of a forearm injury. Locke spent his first six NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos before joining Dallas. He made two tackles in the Cowboys’ season-opening defeat against the New York Giants. Sports Illustrated described the injury report as breaking news that could receive further updates.
