Baylor University quarterback DJ Lagway is currently listed as day-to-day following an ankle injury, according to head coach Dave Aranda. His participation in the upcoming game against Prairie View A&M on Saturday will be determined by his practice performance this week.

In his debut with Baylor, Lagway threw for 333 yards, completing 27 passes out of 54 attempts, while achieving two touchdowns and one interception in a close 17-16 loss to Auburn. The Bears' failure to convert a critical two-point attempt late in the game was pivotal in their defeat.

Auburn's head coach Alex Golesh commended Lagway's toughness, highlighting his ability to keep playing despite being injured. Golesh noted, "If you’ve got any question on how tough that kid is... he got banged up early, and that is a tough, tough football player."

Lagway, who joined Baylor after two seasons at the Florida Gators, was a highly sought-after recruit, ranked No. 3 in his class. He started for Florida under head coach Billy Napier but transferred after Napier's departure. Last season, Lagway recorded 2,264 yards passing, with 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, while the Gators finished with a 4-8 record.

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remarked that Lagway needed a fresh start and expressed confidence in his potential at Baylor. Further updates on Lagway's injury and game status are pending.
