The Cowboys’ secondary lost another starter during their game against the Baltimore Ravens when safety Jalen Thompson injured his left leg in the second quarter. His leg was caught awkwardly on a tackle attempt, and he could not put weight on it before limping to the blue medical tent. Thompson is listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.
Dallas was already without free safety Malik Hooker, who has a forearm injury from Week 1, and cornerback Cobie Durant, who sustained a hamstring issue in Week 2. PJ Locke, who replaced Hooker, is also out with a foot injury.
The Cowboys promoted slot defender Reddy Steward from the practice squad before the game. Rookie first-round pick Caleb Downs, who has college experience at safety, has also been on the practice squad. Alijah Clark took Thompson’s place alongside Markquese Bell.
Bell was involved in a defensive pass interference penalty that helped set up a first-half touchdown by Derrick Henry. Further information about Thompson’s condition and the effect on Dallas’ defensive strategy was not available.
