Tank Dell’s revised agreement with Houston could bring his total earnings to $3.645 million. The contract was reached last week before Houston’s Week 1 matchup with the Buffalo Bills, and the details were reported Sept. 11 by sports.yahoo.com.
Dell’s existing deal is worth $1.704 million, including a $1.145 million salary and a $500,000 signing bonus. The revision provides another $1.5 million. He can earn $300,000 by playing at least 30% of Houston’s offensive snaps, plus $300,000 for each additional 5% through a 50% snap share. He also can receive $38,461 for every game in which he is active.
Dell remains on injured reserve with a designation that permits a return, so he will miss at least four games while rehabbing a 2024 knee injury involving a dislocation and multiple ligament tears. A return could first come against Dallas at home, but he must advance to 11-on-11 practice work.
After his practice window opens, Houston has 21 days to activate him or place him back on injured reserve for the rest of the 2026 season. General manager Nick Caserio said Sept. 1 that Dell was approaching a return but had more work to do and needed to rebuild confidence.
Dell later attended the Texans’ 2026 season premiere event, where Brian “Big Sarge” Barfield said Dell was in good spirits and eager to play. Dell was a 2023 third-round pick, and Houston’s receiving group also has injuries involving Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel.
