Nico Collins, a two-time Pro Bowl receiver, is out for the Houston Texans in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals. KPRC 2 reporter Aaron Wilson, citing a league source, said Collins has a Grade 1 hamstring injury and might miss this game and the next one against the Indianapolis Colts. Wilson reported that the situation could still change.
The Texans have brought rookie wide receiver Lewis Bond up from their practice squad, making him their second standard elevation for the matchup after veteran safety and special-teams player George Odum. Bond can be elevated two more times before Houston must place him on its 53-man roster or select another player.
Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jared Wayne and Jaylin Noel are expected to play ahead of him at receiver, and Bond's specific role against Cincinnati was not provided.
Houston chose Bond 204th overall in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft. The team released him while reducing its roster to 53 players, then returned him to the practice squad. Before the draft, NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein described Bond as having reliable hands and the ability to make contested catches.
Zierlein also cited difficulty creating separation against press and man coverage, while saying motion or bunch formations could help him contribute.
