Visitors Take the Lead

The New York Mets defeated the Texas Rangers 6-3 on Wednesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington. The win improved the Mets to 72-85, while the Rangers fell to 78-79. Attendance stood at 24,191 for the contest. Neither team was credited with a home run during the game, as all runs resulted from hits, errors, or sacrifice flies.

Scoring Sequence

The Mets took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning when Francisco Alvarez scored on a single by Juan Soto. The Rangers tied the game at 1-1 later in the third when Josh Jung doubled to right field, allowing Tyler Jansen to score. In the fourth inning, the Rangers extended their lead to 2-1 when Benge scored on an error. The Mets answered with two runs in the same frame. First, Juan Soto scored on a sacrifice fly by Diaz, making it 2-2. Then, Duran scored on a sacrifice fly by Langford, giving the Mets a 3-2 lead. In the sixth inning, Alvarez doubled to center field, driving in both Semien and Benge to increase the Mets' advantage to 5-3. Alvarez scored again on a sacrifice fly by Torrens, making it 6-3. The Rangers scored their final run in the seventh inning when Benge doubled to right field, allowing Baty to score. However, the Mets maintained their lead for the remainder of the game.

Pitching Performance

Sean Manaea secured the win for the Mets, pitching six innings. He allowed three hits and two earned runs while walking two batters and striking out nine. Nate Lavender pitched one hitless inning with two strikeouts and no earned runs. Dedniel Nunez also pitched one hitless inning with two strikeouts and no earned runs. Kodai Senga closed the game with one hitless inning, two strikeouts, and no earned runs, earning the save.

For the Rangers, MacKenzie Gore pitched five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run while walking one batter and striking out two. Nathan Eovaldi took the loss, pitching one inning where he allowed three hits and three earned runs, walked one batter, and recorded no strikeouts.
