Dak Prescott moved past Tony Romo in the Dallas Cowboys’ record book Sunday, throwing his 249th career touchdown pass during a 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders. The 24-yard completion to CeeDee Lamb gave Prescott the franchise mark, surpassing Romo’s 248, before 93,188 fans at AT&T Stadium. The result brought Dallas to 1-1 and marked its home opener.
Prescott finished with 26 completions, 279 passing yards and four touchdowns, with no interceptions. Lamb caught two scoring passes, while tight end Jake Ferguson had two. Lamb has now caught 37 touchdown passes from Prescott, more than any other player. Prescott, 33, also extended his home winning streak against NFC East teams to 20 games.
Dallas led 17-10 at halftime, then widened the margin after Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble and Dee Winters recovered it inside Washington’s 20-yard line. Brandon Aubrey made three field goals, including a 60-yarder. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels left with a dislocated left elbow on the final play before halftime. Coach Dan Quinn said imaging showed no fracture, and Marcus Mariota took over. Dallas will play Baltimore next Sunday, Sept. 27, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro at 3:25 p.m. Central, with the Cowboys designated as the home team.
