The Association of Former Students expects 4,762 Texas A&M students to pick up new Aggie Rings in College Station this week, part of 5,275 rings ordered across all of the university's campuses for the fall Aggie Ring Day, The Eagle reported Monday.
The main distribution happens Friday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clayton W. Williams Jr. Alumni Center. Ring recipients go into the building in groups during 15-minute time blocks, then leave so the next group can enter.
There is no formal ceremony, and the association encourages Aggies to mark the moment with family and friends however they choose.
A quieter option on Thursday
A pickup window on Thursday, Oct. 8, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in 30-minute group blocks. The association says the day is meant for people with mobility issues or anyone who wants to avoid the big crowds, and that Thursday spots are limited and handed out first come, first served.
Parking is available at the alumni center that day, Houston Street stays open with drop-off on that side of the building, and lines are expected to be short. Thursday visitors will find neither the Aggie Park photographers nor the marketplace.
