Texas A&M University's College of Engineering has named 13 recipients of its 2026 Outstanding Engineering Awards, which the college calls its highest honor. Six of the honorees are former students and seven are current students, according to a college news release published Monday. The release did not say when the ceremony took place.

Former students

Four graduates received the Outstanding Alumni Honor Award, according to the college:

  • Anthony J. "Tony" Best '72, an energy executive who was president of ARCO Latin America and CEO of Pure Resources and SM Energy
  • Retired Maj. Gen. Wilbert D. "Doug" Pearson Jr. '69, an aerospace engineering graduate who commanded Edwards Air Force Base and led flight testing for the F-22 and F-35
  • Mark R. Potter '86, the former chief technology officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise, who the college said built that company's research partnership with Texas A&M
  • Travis D. Stice '84, chairman of Diamondback Energy and a petroleum engineering graduate

Two younger graduates received the Outstanding Early Professional Honor Award: Jordan M. Ellington '14, an executive vice president and asset manager at Matador Resources, and Joshua Rohleder '13, a controller at John Deere.

Current students

Outstanding Graduate Awards went to Amitesh Sabut, a doctoral candidate in the Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering whose research looks at water security and combined climate extremes, and Koyal Ansingkar, a student in the Engineering Medicine program.

Five undergraduates received the Craig C. Brown Outstanding Senior Engineer Award: aerospace engineering students Jaden Behringer and Moksh Shah, biomedical engineering student Ananya Bhawsinka, mechanical engineering student Akira Bunge and computer science student Theresa Tran.

The college linked this year's awards to the university's 150th anniversary. Texas A&M opened in 1876.
