Diamondbacks Complete Comeback
The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Houston Astros 4-3 on Saturday at Daikin Park in Houston, Texas. The away team started the game behind but managed to tie the score and ultimately take the lead in the bottom of the 10th inning. Jonathan Loaisiga recorded the win, finishing with one inning pitched, one hit allowed, and two strikeouts.
Brandyn Garcia earned the save, retiring the final two batters without allowing a base on balls. The game drew an attendance of 36,470 fans.
Early Astros Lead
Houston built an early advantage in the third inning. Paredes singled to right field, driving in Diaz and Trammell to give the home team a 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Perdomo hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Tawa to score and extend the Astros' lead to 3-1.
Paredes then reached on an infield single to second base, scoring Peña and moving Alvarez to third base. This play kept the score at 3-1 in favor of Houston.
Late-Inning Rally
The Diamondbacks began their comeback in the seventh inning. Nootbaar doubled to right field, scoring Tawa and moving Waldschmidt to third base. The score remained 3-2 in favor of Houston.
In the eighth inning, Marte hit a home run to right field, traveling 388 feet. This solo home run tied the game at 3-3. The teams went into extra innings with the score level.
