White Sox Take Early Lead

The Chicago White Sox secured a 5-1 victory over the Houston Astros on Wednesday, September 2, at Daikin Park. The away club established the margin of victory early, scoring three runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. The Astros managed only a single run in the eighth inning, falling short in their attempt to keep the contest close.

Montgomery Drives In Key Runs

Colson Montgomery was the offensive spark for Chicago, driving in two runs. In the top of the fifth, Benintendi singled to right field to score Antonacci, giving Chicago a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Montgomery doubled to right field, allowing Benintendi and Vargas to cross the plate and extend the lead to 3-0. Houston’s Only Run

Houston’s sole run came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Paredes hit a home run to left field. The ball traveled 339 feet, providing the only offensive highlight for the home team. The Astros were unable to generate additional offense despite their lineup’s efforts throughout the game.

Pitching Performance

Sean Burke earned the win for Chicago, pitching 5.2 innings while allowing one hit, no earned runs, four walks, and striking out six batters. Bryan Hudson recorded the save, pitching 1.1 innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks, and two strikeouts. Jordan Hicks pitched one inning, allowing one hit, one earned run, two walks, and striking out two.
