In the evolving landscape of college football influenced by NIL deals, Texas A&M's starting quarterback, Marcel Reed, is reportedly earning $3 million for the 2026 season. This figure places him among the highest-paid quarterbacks in the sport.
Reed, who is entering his second full season as a starter, recorded impressive statistics last year, throwing for 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Notably, eight of his interceptions occurred against defenses ranked in the top 35, a challenge he has been addressing through extensive training with his private quarterbacks coach, Josh Christensen, along with new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch.
Despite being a polarizing figure nationally, Reed's dual-threat capabilities and speed have made him a concern for opposing defenses. With a strong group of wide receivers at his disposal, expectations are high for Reed to not only maintain his passing numbers from 2025 but also improve his interception rate and overall passing accuracy.
Reed's deal was reportedly negotiated shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 season, as confirmed by discussions with Texas A&M sources. His earnings are significant, although they fall short of the reported $6 million earned by new Miami quarterback Darien Mensah, who leads the current crop of college quarterbacks in earnings.
