College Station police have taken into custody Dwayne Andre Richards, an off-duty detention officer for Brazos County, in connection with a domestic violence incident. Authorities confirmed that Richards was arrested early Tuesday morning.
Richards was subsequently booked into the Brazos County Jail. He faces two specific charges: Assault of a Family or Household Member by Impeding Breath or Circulation, and Interfering with an Emergency Call. As of Wednesday morning, he remained in custody with his bond set at $20,000.
Upon learning of the arrest, the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office launched an internal investigation into the matter. Richards has been suspended from his position pending the results of that inquiry. Records indicate that he began working as a detention officer for the agency in August 2024.
