Bass Pro Shops has unveiled plans to construct a new retail destination in College Station, Texas. The company stated the project aims to serve sportsmen and women in the region.

The proposed store will occupy 100,000 square feet along State Highway 6. It is located just north of the intersection with William D. Fitch Parkway and next to the future South College Station baseball and softball complex. The retailer noted that the project is subject to all necessary approvals and is expected to open in 2028.

This development adds to the company’s recent expansion across Texas. Bass Pro Shops recently opened locations in Odessa, Tyler, Spring, and Grand Prairie. A store is also planned for Abilene. With the addition of the College Station and Abilene sites, the retailer will operate 20 destinations throughout the state.

Johnny Morris, the company’s founder, expressed excitement about entering the College Station market. He described Texas as a special place for the brand and highlighted the community’s appreciation for the outdoors. Morris stated that the new location would help families enjoy the region’s natural features.

The retailer described the upcoming store as an experiential destination combining retail with entertainment and education. Custom designs by artists and craftsmen will emphasize local sporting heritage and outdoor traditions. The company noted that its stores aim to connect customers with nature through immersive themes.

Bass Pro Shops has a history of supporting conservation efforts. Over the past decade, the company donated more than 10% of its earnings to conservation programs in local communities and across North America. Customers can contribute further by rounding up purchases at the register or online through the Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund.

The retailer also maintains a Legendary Salute Program that offers a 10% discount to veterans, active military personnel, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and state fish and wildlife agency employees. Details regarding specific job creation numbers or construction timelines beyond the 2028 opening were not provided.
