Texas A&M football prepares to face Arizona State, marking the second all-time meeting between the programs. The Sun Devils open a demanding road slate against the No. 10 ranked Aggies, a contest expected to draw a six-figure crowd. The previous encounter occurred in 2015 in Houston, where the Aggies secured a 38-17 victory over the Sun Devils.
The 2025 campaign saw the Aggies achieve significant success, winning their first 11 games and rising to No. 3 in the Associated Press poll. Despite a 27-17 loss to Texas that ended their regular season, the team secured a College Football Playoff spot. In the postseason, Texas A&M hosted Miami (Fla.) but lost 10-3 to the Hurricanes, who advanced to the national championship.
The Aggies concluded the year ranked No. 8 in both the AP and AFCA Coaches Polls.
Head coach Mike Elko enters his third season with a combined record of 20-7 at Texas A&M. His tenure includes an 8-5 record in 2024 and an 11-2 finish last year. Prior to joining the Aggies, Elko coached at Duke for the 2022 and 2023 seasons, compiling a 16-9 record.
The 2026 season opened with a 50-0 shutout of Missouri State. Quarterback Marcel Reed, in his fourth year with the program, threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns in the opener. The team’s rushing attack combined for 236 yards and three scores, with Isaiah Horton and Mario Craver each catching a touchdown.
Defensively, Noah Mihail led the team with seven tackles, while the Aggies limited Missouri State to 67 total yards of offense.
