Texas A&M has added a high-profile prospect to its future roster by securing a commitment from Donald Tabron II. The four-star quarterback will join the Aggies in the 2028 recruiting cycle, selecting College Station over finalists Louisiana State University and the University of Oregon.
Tabron brings a track record of success from Cass Technical High School in Detroit. As a freshman in 2024, he became the team starter and threw for 1,656 yards with 17 touchdowns, helping lead the Technicians to a Division 1 state championship title.
He continued his production during his sophomore season, passing for 2,819 yards and 35 touchdowns. His performance guided Cass Tech to a 13-1 record and another appearance in the Michigan Division 1 state championship game.
The 6-foot-4 prospect is currently ranked as the No. 3 quarterback and No. 29 overall player in his class by the 247Sports Composite. His commitment adds significant depth to a quarterback room that will undergo changes before he arrives.
Head coach Mike Elko and the coaching staff have been pursuing Tabron for several months. The recruit made three visits to College Station this year to build relationships with offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins and quarterbacks coach Joey Lynch.
Tabron noted that communication with the new coaches began immediately after they started their roles in January. He described the contact as consistent from that point through his decision.
